A chemical called urea is often mass produced with the Haber-Bosch process to be put in fertilizers, which emits a lot of CO2 and it uses approximately 2% of global energy annually. A new way to produce urea is electrocatalysis, which will be less detrimental on the environment and more energy efficient. It uses electricity to cause chemical reactions to produce more of its products, urea. The process also uses carbon dioxide and nitrate as a catalyst, which will reduce the amount of greenhouse gases.
